Monterey Decompression, a road diary
The first van-and-ranger road trip. Out of Ventura on a Saturday in October 2026, north up the coast with Nandor the cat in a carrier and a gorilla-tape escape policy, to work the Monterey Decompression as a ranger on the Sunday, and home on the Monday.
Saturday night I skipped every bed I had planned and slept on a ranch road behind Cambria, a small valley in the hills with a chained gate out the door. Utterly silent all night.
One page per day, plus the plan and an after-action report in my own words (the cat needs about three cans of wet food on a hungry day; bring real coffee, not the half-caf; get better blankets). The pages will be posted here.
Not posted here yet. It will be.
